The PoC Jumpstart allows you to test App-V functionality without a virtual machine and also introduces the use of Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack. This PoC focuses on the use of App-V technology to deploy Windows 7 and Office 2010. The deployment includes a single virtual machine that runs Windows 7 with SP1 and Office 2010 with SP3. This PoC will not require any additional software or licenses to deploy to your environment. If you are a professional services organization using the Microsoft Application Virtualization with Desktop Optimization Pack (App-V and Desktop Virtualization) technologies, you can use the PoC Jumpstart as a supplement to your service engagements.  For a more robust set of tools, please use the Microsoft Service Pack Integration Kit (SPIK) that provides complete preconfigured self-service solutions for your environments. Scenario: Using the PoC Jumpstart, you will create an installation of Windows 7 SP1 and Office 2010 SP3. The PoC can be completed from any client computer. You do not need to be in a Remote Desktop environment. Scope of activity: - Start a Windows 7 image in a virtual environment. - Complete the PoC Jumpstart. - Once the installation is complete, create a virtual machine in Hyper-V and deploy the application. Prerequisites: - Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 - A single hardware server with enough memory, hard disk, and network access for deployment and testing. - Required Client computer: Windows XP SP3 Variables: - Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1 is not required on client/target computers. - Windows 7 is downloaded and installed on the deployment server, in the virtual machine. - Microsoft Office 2010 is downloaded and installed on the deployment server, in the virtual machine. Detailed steps: 1. Create a Windows 7 Hyper-V virtual machine - On the Deployment Server computer, from the start menu, navigate to "All Programs/Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1" - In the right pane, expand "Windows Virtual PC" and then click "Create Virtual Machine" - In the "Select a Windows virtual machine to create" dialog box, select the following options: 8e68912320 Proof Of Concept Jumpstart Kit (April-2022) This kit will give you a jumpstart to your Windows 7 PoC by allowing you to assess the new Microsoft Optimize Desktop technologies and determine if they are suitable for your organization. It will also help you familiarize you with some of the important deployment tools provided by Microsoft to assist with your broader deployment efforts.
